Here's how you can make a batch of these little medicated melts.
Supplies:
- a large glass or stainless steel mixing bowl ( plastic will scratch and absorb the essential oil in this recipe)
- wire whisk
- measuring cups
- silicone ice cube tray (or some other mold that will hold about 1 Tablespoon per cavity like a candy mold, mini muffin pan, regular ice tray)
- wire sieve
- nitrile gloves
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cannabis infused coconut oil ** use recipe for cannabis butter substituting coconut oil to make your own or pick some up at your favorite dispensary
- 5-10 drops essential oil (I used lavender but you can use whatever scent appeals to you)
- 1 Cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup citric acid (I found this at Walmart with the canning jars)
- 1/4 cup corn starch
Instructions:
1. Measure out baking soda, citric acid, and corn starch. Sift these together through your wire sieve. This will help to evenly mix these dry ingredients and catch any large clumps
2. Measure out 1/2 cup of cannabis infused coconut oil into a microwave safe dish. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir to melt any still solid coconut oil. You want this melted but not hot.
3. Stir your essential oil into your meted cannabis oil.
4. Slowly drizzle in the oil mixture into your dry ingredients whisking it as you go. This should make a loose mixture.
5. Glove up! Now get in here with your hands and mash, knead, & mix until this mixture is fully and uniformly mixed
6. Fill your molds with this mixture and place in the freezer to set up. This will take about an hour.
7. Remove from freezer and remove from molds. Place finished tub treats in a resealable container and store in a cool cupboard or in your fridge. Coconut oil will melt at around 75 degrees so if your house is warm you definitely want to keep this in a fridge.
To use:
Run a warm bath. Drop in 1 or 2 tub treats. Relax and soak for at least 20 minutes.
